Government Accountability Office
Our community indicators process starts with engaging the community in developing a vision for a preferred future. We then facilitate an open community process in identifying the most important measures of progress towards that vision.
We encourage communities to help identify local researchers that we can partner with to build local capacity for sustaining the community indicators effort. The power of a community indicators effort often lies in how the data become institutionalized in the decision-making processes of public and private organizations throughout the community, developing a shared sense of community priorities and fostering collaborative action. We provide on-going support of these efforts to ensure that the indicators effort is not focused on creating a report, but on reshaping and enhancing the problem-solving capacities of a community.
